Applications Being Accepted for Trooper Youth Week

Sgt. Julian Castellanos, president of the LPOANJ’s NJ State Police Chapter, has announced that applications are now being accepted for the 2009 New Jersey State Police annual Trooper Youth Week held at the NJSP Training Academy in Sea Girt.
This residential police-oriented educational program simulates the NJSP recruit training experience and is open to high school students who have completed their junior year and are entering their senior year. Begun in 1965, the program covers many aspects of police work and criminal justice and is geared towards youth interested in pursuing a career in law enforcement.
Three sessions are scheduled this year as follows:
- July 6 to 10, 2009
- July 13 to 17, 2009
- July 27 to 31, 2009
Nomination forms as well as more detailed information regarding this program is available at the Trooper Youth Week 2009 web site.
The deadline for filing a nominaton form is March 16, 2009. Nominees whose forms are received after the deadline will be placed on a waiting list pending class availability.
LPOANJ members are asked to reach out to any youth meeting the qualifications for this program. Attendance is free and participants do not have to be New Jersey residents. Contact .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this e-mail address) if you have any questions.
