LPOANJ Featured in January 2009 New Jersey Cops Magazine
Published January 4, 2009

The New Jersey State Chapter of the Latino Police Officers Association was featured in the January 2009 issue of New Jersey Cops magazine, a monthly publication that reaches thousands of law enforcement and criminal justice professionals.
LPOANJ president Hector Ramos, Bergen County chapter president Antonio Hernandez, State Police chapter president Julian Castellanos and Roberto Reyes were interviewed for the article which, among other things, highlighted the growth of the state chapter and its move to permanent headquarters.
Hector Ramos explained the LPOANJ’s dual purpose of serving as a liaison to the community and recruiting young Hispanic people into law enforcement careers. Antonio Hernandez cited examples of the functions and activities that LPOANJ members engage in. But perhaps Julian Castellanos said it best with his succinct explanation of the role of the LPOANJ: “The idea is to give back to the community.”
