Latino Peace Officers Association New Jersey State Chapter

Programs: Scholarships

In keeping with our mission to promote equality and professionalism in law enforcement, the LPOANJ maintains two programs designed to provide financial assistance to lower income and underprivileged members of the community who seek to pursue a career in law enforcement.

  • Academic Scholarship
The academic scholarship is designed to provide financial assistance to students seeking undergraduate degrees, regardless of the chosen major. Scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,000.00 in August of the year the application was made, prior to the start of the fall semester.
  • Alternate Route Program Scholarship
We seek to sponsor qualified individuals to attend Alternate Route Programs offered by participating police academies. This award provides full or partial tuition for police academy attendance. Depending upon the availability of funds, a candidate may also qualify for a stipend. The amount of the stipend, if any, shall be determined by the LPOANJ’s executive board.

Scholarships are awarded based on academic achievement, accomplishments, financial need, community involvement, participation in school, and contributions to the community. The number of scholarships available will be contingent upon the revenue generated during our fundraising activities. These programs are open to all applicants regardless of race, creed, color, religion, age or sexual orientation. All applications are due July 1st.
